A Note from Jonathan, PreK Program Manager

August 31, 2009 marks the start of a new school year for the United Way Prek program’s staff, students and families.  We are thrilled to announce the addition of a third site, Cesar Chavez, in addition to Agua Fria and Kaune Elementary Schools.  The classes are full, the classrooms are being prepared, and soon the Santa Fe Children's Project PreK Staff will meet with parents and students during their initial home visits. We are excited to embark on our new adventure together!

In preparation for the new school year we encourage parents to help their children get prepared for the fun filled activities of preK.  Please be sure children are getting enough rest with an earlier bedtime.  Children more fully enjoy the experiences of the school day when they are fully rested. 

Our operating schedule will be 7:50 A.M until 10:50 A.M. for the morning sessions and 11:25 A.M. until 2:25 P.M. for the afternoon session.  Our one full-day class will operate from 7:50 A.M. until 2:25 P.M.  It is important to be sure students are dropped off no earlier that ten minutes prior to the class start time, and are picked up promptly at the dismissal time. This allows our teaching staff to prepare all the wonderful activities they provide for students. 

We know students and families are equally excited about the beginning of a new school year. The successful start of the PreK experience will help lead the way for academic success throughout their school careers.  We look forward to see you all August 31 for the start of a wonderful journey!
