Volunteer Opportunities with United Way of Santa Fe County

Volunteers have long been an important part of UWSFC. We have many volunteer opportunities that help us fulfill our mission to create lifelong, positive change for children and families striving to succeed in Santa Fe County.

Our volunteers guide our work and provide invaluable insight into our community. They impact every aspect of our mission, from our annual campaign to our financial oversight to the implementation of our work with children and families.

If you are interested in volunteering with United Way of Santa Fe County, please contact Claire Dudley Chavez at (505) 216-2972 or claired@uwsfc.org.

Community Volunteer Opportunities

At United Way of Santa Fe County, all of our volunteer opportunities are directed toward the support of our work.  We do not coordinate volunteer opportunities for other non-profit organizations in our community.

Volunteer Statement September 2017

Fall is in the air.  We would love to have volunteers serve as breakfast and lunchtime helpers at our PreK sites.

Champion volunteers, Gary Clendenen & Judy Gresham are helping again this year.  Thank you!

We welcome new volunteer Lori Gibson to the team!

We also extend our sincere thanks to PreK family volunteers:  Brooke Adams, Sandra and Luis Alvarado, Irma Flores, Linda, the grandmother from the Yellow Room, Laura McCann, Maggie and Melanie Moore, and Sarah and Lucas Nash.

Help us ensure a child’s day is off to a great start!  Join us as a breakfast volunteer at the United Way Early Learning Center at Ramirez Thomas Elementary School.  We are looking for help on week days from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m.

Lunchtime is the best time to hear all about a four-year old’s day.  Help out as a lunchtime volunteer at the United Way Early Learning Center at Aspen.  Lunchtime helpers are needed on week days from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m.

You can help out once a week or once a month, whatever fits your schedule.   For more information, please contact Claire Dudley Chavez at claireD@uwsfc.org or (505) 216-2972.

Volunteer Spotlight

Volunteer Recognition – Tom Bloomfield

A graduate of the YogaSource Teacher Training program, Tom Bloomfield has been instructing in alignment-based yoga since 2016.  He is committed to helping each participant safely apply the principles of yoga to gain greater strength, flexibility, and confidence, and to experience deep relaxation and release of tension.  Sessions include breathing exercises, yogic poses, and meditation.  Whether novice or an experienced yoga practitioner, each participant will learn to adapt the poses to fit the changing needs of her body.  Tom is a retired software engineer and a volunteer math tutor in the Santa Fe Public Schools.
