Good Morning Ms. Gregory:
I would like to take this opportunity to give you some feedback regarding the programs that were held this past school year at Kaune.
I have two children who attended Kaune this past year (and will attend again this school year). One of whom was in the Pre-K program and I just can't say enough good things about this program! First let me say I absolutely adore Doris Salazar-Gromek and Sara Nelson (I do hope I have their last names right). They provided a safe and caring learning environment for my child and prepared him extremely well for the challenges he faces as he enters Kindergarten. I always felt at ease discussing any issues my child was having at that time with them and they provided me with some very positive ways to handle certain situations, behavior, etc. I think their methods of teaching and the creativeness used to attract the childrens' attention was incredible and I have even implemented some of their ideas in our activities at home. So again, excellent teachers and what a wonderful program!
I also wanted to comment on Jonathan Brannon whom I got to know from his time spent at the school. If I am correct, I believe he oversees the pre-k program. As a parent it means a lot to know that a director, manager, etc. actually gets out in the field and has hands on experience in the programs they are working with because obviously it shows that they care and are devoted to what they are doing. My child got to spend a little one on one time with him and it seems to have been a very positive experience for my child. We have run into Jonathan outside of school and my child is excited to see him, a little shy, but very excited! So I am thankful that not only are the teachers unbelievably wonderful, but the staff too!
I did take advantage of the summer school program held at Kaune, which by the way is in itself an amazing school also run by amazing teachers and staff, and by the end of the summer my children were so thankful that they got to attend this program! Unfortunately I am a full-time employee and therefore spending time with my children is limited to the evenings and weekends but I was so happy that the opportunity came along that would provide them with activities to keep them learning and having fun while they were doing it! Believe it or not, they actually enjoyed going to school during the summer and did not want to miss one day of it! My husband also attended the Dad and Kids night and came out with some very positive feedback from other parents and truly enjoyed getting some alone time with our boys! My children loved the afterschool program as well! Puzzles, computer time, games, growing a garden, etc., just really made their summer very enjoyable! I have three other nephews who spent some time with us this summer and they were a little envious of the things my children were getting to do, so I believe extending this program out to the other schools is an excellent idea as there are plenty of children who would like something better to do than plopping down in front of the tv!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope that if I have sent this feedback to the wrong individual, you will pass it along to the appropriate person.
Sincerely,
Julie Lovato
