
School board sets election date
The Santa Fe school board has scheduled board elections for Feb. 1.
Three positions are up for election: District 1, currently held by board vice-president Mary Ellen Gonzales; District 2, held by board president Richard Polese; and District 4, held by Angélica Ruiz. Declarations of candidacy and a sworn statement of intent are due with the Santa Fe County Clerk, 102 Grant Ave., on Dec. 21.
Board Secretary Barbara Gudwin, District 3, and board member Frank Montaño, District 5, are up for re-election in 2012. To run for school board you must be a qualified elector of the state, be at least 18 years old and live in the district. Visit sfps.info to find out which schools fall within each district.
