United Way Early Learning Center at Kaune

The path to high-quality early childhood care and education for every child in Santa Fe County.

A leader in early learning and family support initiatives, UWSFC is dedicated to bringing together people and resources to create increased opportunities for children and families to achieve their dreams and aspirations.

In order to meet the demands of families in Santa Fe, UWSFC, in partnership with the Santa Fe Public Schools, has purchased the former Kaune Elementary School in the Casa Linda neighborhood.  This site will be the future home of the United Way Early Learning Center (UWELC) at Kaune.

We are proud to be working with the following partners to develop the UWELC at Kaune:

To make the vision of UWELC at Kaune a reality, UWSFC needs the support of the community. With the help of a broad range of donors, we must raise $6 million to purchase and renovate Kaune Elementary.

Please join our campaign.

UWELC at Kaune reflects a commitment to extend our mission in Santa Fe County:

  • Build a thriving center that gives families universal access to high-quality early childhood education programs—all day, all year.
  • Implement a proven approach to early learning that engages parents and caregivers in children’s well-being.
  • Ensure that 100 percent of children enrolled in the program start kindergarten ready to learn
  • Create a state-wide demonstration model of culturally appropriate, two-generation programs that boost families and strengthen early childhood education professionals.
  • Offer robust professional development for early childhood professionals, including leading-edge technology for teaching and learning.
  • Support the local economy by providing at least 40 new jobs.

  • “United Way of Santa Fe County’s early childhood programs put all of our children on the path to success. We are fifth generation New Mexicans who have lived in Agua Fria Village all of our lives. We are excited about  United Way at Agua Fria and the opportunities it provides our family, neighbors and community. We’ve experienced firsthand the impact of these life-changing programs.”
