We like to say, "We are not your mother's United Way." What we are really saying is that United Way of Santa Fe County is doing business differently ... because the 21st century and our new economy demand it. Our commitment to creating lasting change in the chronic conditions that plague our community has, over the past ten years, taken on laser-like focus in our programs, in community partnership and in fundraising.
Because ...
- early education is one of the best investments you can make. Every dollar invested saves up to $17 in remedial education costs
- our at-risk kids are already one to two years behind when they start the first grade
- our NM students are ranked 48th in the nation in 3rd grade reading scores
- only 53% of our kids graduate from high school
- Because we are failing our children...
Our sole focus is early childhood education. Through the following sequential pipeline of opportunities, our Santa Fe Children's Project (SFCP) brings the community together to advocate, and to provide programs prenatal to graduation. Our children become more successful in school and in life, our families become more resilient, our community becomes stronger both now and in the future.
"If you can read you can succeed!"
